OCEANSIDE (CNS) - One man was stabbed to death and the man with whom he had been fighting was airlifted to a local hospital, according to Oceanside police.

The victim was identified as Bradley Garner, 49, according to the San Diego County Medical Examiner's Office.

A babysitter ran out of a house and called police at about 9:30 p.m. on Friday to report a man covered in blood at a residence on the 1400 block of Santa Rosa Street in Oceanside, Sgt. Gabe Jimenez said on Saturday.

Two neighbors ran to the home and discovered the victim stabbed to death and the suspect, David Strouth, 34, also lying on the floor, according to Jimenez.

Police said a fight broke out between Garner and Strouth, prompting the babysitter to flee the home and call for help, according to Jimenez. That's when neighbors discovered the men bloodied and motionless, according to Jimenez.

Strouth was airlifted to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries where he remains today under police watch, Jimenez said. Two children, ages two and four, were also at the home during the stabbing, but their relationship to Garner and Strouth has not been released, according to Jimenez.

Police said the cause of the fight and Strouth's relationship to Garner were being investigated.
