Authorities said a caterer and party planner arrested for allegedly shooting and wounding her husband is scheduled to make her first court appearance on Tuesday.

Kalisa Wells, 59, is booked at Las Colinas Detention Facility in Santee with a bail set at $75,000. She is due at East Division Court in El Cajon at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday.

Wells came outside to meet officers who responded to a report of gunfire at her house in the 4400 block of Sheldon Drive in La Mesa about 4:15 p.m. Friday, according to police.

The patrol personnel then went inside and found her husband, Donald Wells, lying on the floor in an upstairs room with an apparent bullet wound to his hip. Medics took the victim, who was conscious and alert, to Sharp Memorial Hospital in San Diego.

His current condition was not immediately available.

Donald Wells is a former news director for San Diego KGTV 10 News.

Officers questioned Kalisa Wells, who appeared uninjured, at the scene, then arrested her and took her to county jail, where she was booked on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon.

Investigators found a revolver on a kitchen counter in the couple's home, police said.

The motive for the shooting was unclear.

Donald Wells was news director at KGTV's 10 News for much of a 14-year career at the station. His Internet biography says he has been "Transformation Project Lead" at the ABC affiliate for one year.
