ESCONDIDO (CNS) - A woman riding a bicycle suffered serious injuries when she was struck by a hit-and-run motorist in Escondido, a police officer said Sunday.
The bicyclist was riding northbound on Broadway and was hit by a vehicle heading eastbound on Grand Avenue, said Officer Stephen Braucht of the Escondido Police Department.
The vehicle never stopped and fled the scene. Police were dispatched to the location at 6:59 p.m Saturday and the bicyclist was rushed to Palomar Medical Center with serious injuries, Braucht said.
Through their investigation, officers believe there may have been a possible witness who has further information regarding the hit-and-run motorist, he said.
Investigators from the department's Traffic Division asked anyone who saw the crash to call them at (760) 743-8477.
