LA JOLLA (CNS) - A 3-year-old girl drowned in a backyard pool in La Jolla, police said Sunday.
It happened about 6:10 p.m. Saturday at a home in the 5400 block of Rutgers Road, San Diego police Officer Dan Lasher said.
It was unclear how the child ended up in the pool and who pulled her out, Lasher said. Multiple media reports said a neighbor spotted the girl in the water, then pulled her out and performed CPR until emergency personnel arrived.
She was taken to Scripps La Jolla hospital, where she was pronounced dead, media reports said.
