SAN DIEGO (CNS) - A man suspected of shooting a man to death in Logan Heights was in custody Sunday, as police released the name of the victim.

Valentin Martinez, 26, was arrested Saturday morning in connection with the shooting that occurred about 12:20 p.m. Friday in the south alley of the 2100 block of Ocean View Boulevard, San Diego police Lt. Paul Rorrison said.

Martinez was booked into county jail on suspicion of first degree murder and possession of a controlled substance.

Juan Pablo Sanchez, 34, was identified Sunday as the victim in the shooting. He was shot multiple times in his upper torso and was transported to UCSD Medical Center where he was pronounced dead, Rorrison said.

Police found Sanchez lying in the alley Friday afternoon, after a 911 caller reported hearing several gunshots and seeing a man down in the alley, Rorrison said. Witnesses told police they heard several people arguing before hearing the gunshots.
