BONSALL (CNS) - The passenger killed when a suspected drunken driver crashed into a tree near Bonsall over the weekend has been identified as a 18-year-old Fallbrook man.

Juan Daniel Zamudio was riding in the front seat of a speeding 1996 Honda Civic headed south on Olive Hill Road approaching Morro Hills Road around 5:20 p.m. Saturday, according to the county Medical Examiner's Office and the California Highway Patrol.

The driver apparently lost control on the curving roadway, veered to the right, struck a tree and continued down an embankment, authorities said. Zamudio died at the scene.

The car's driver and backseat passenger were injured in the crash and were flown to Palomar Medical Center, according to the CHP and the Medical Examiner's Office.

CHP Officer Chris Parent said that the driver involved in the crash was suspected of being under the influence of alcohol.
