SAN DIEGO (CBS8) - A police pursuit came to an end at San Diego Police headquarters Tuesday night.

The chase started at a Kmart parking lot in the 800 block of East H Street in Chula Vista. Officers responded to the call of an armed robbery around 9:30 p.m.

Witnesses say the suspect was confronted in the parking lot for allegedly stealing from the store. During that confrontation, it's believed he pulled a gun before taking off in a maroon van with disabled license plates.

A short time later, a lieutenant with Chula Vista Police recognized the van as it was getting on northbound Interstate 805. Police tried to stop the van, but the suspect led them on a long chase through the city. Officers from the San Diego Police Department joined in the chase along with the SDPD helicopter. After spike strips were deployed in the path of the suspect's van, the chase finally came to an end in the parking lot of SDPD headquarters.

The man, who police say may have been armed with two guns, got out in a wheelchair and didn't follow officers' commands. He was then subdued by a K-9 unit and taken into custody.
