Pretty quiet this week with more passing clouds, afternoon sunshine and below seasonal temperatures | San Diego Local Forecast

San Diego County will continue to experience cooler than usual temperatures throughout the work week and throughout Memorial Day weekend.

SAN DIEGO — An area of low pressure system brought cool and gusty conditions to San Diego on Monday. While it was a breeze, west of the mountains, the strongest winds were felt in the mountains and desert. Wind gusts peaked up to 30 to 40 mph for those parts of San Diego county. The winds were still whipping up this evening, but they will settle down overnight.

For the rest of the night, the marine layer will return through tomorrow morning. This will keep the gray conditions in the forecast during the night and morning hours with afternoon sunshine to follow. Clouds will be stubborn to completely clear the immediate coast. But, the farther you are away from the coast, the more sunshine you will see.

SEASONAL (AVERAGE) DAYTIME HIGHS:

  • Coast near 68 - 69 degrees
  • Inland near 75 degrees
  • Mountains near 69 degrees
  • Desert near 93 degrees

TUESDAY TEMPERATURES:

Lows in the 50s will be as consistent as the marine layer we've been seeing overnight. When it comes to daytime highs, our peak temperatures will remain the near to below seasonal range.

AT THE COAST:

Elevated surf returned to our coastline over the weekend. A Beach Hazard Statement will remain in effect through Monday night. The surf and swell will gradually subside by Wednesday and Thursday.

A series of low pressure systems will sweep through the West this week. As a result, there will be a slip in temperatures during the second half of the week. Widespread 60s will be felt from the mountains to the coast. The intrusion of cool air will lead to 80s returning to the desert. Marine layer clouds will be stubborn to entirely clear during this time frame too. There is also a slight chance for patchy drizzle, especially Friday night through Saturday morning.

A ridge of high pressure will amplify over the region during the first half of next week. This will lead to near to above seasonal temperatures more pronounced in the mountains and desert on Tuesday.
