Rady Children's gets $75K award for cancer research
SAN DIEGO (CBS 8) - Rady Children's Hospital received a special donation to help further research on pediatric cancer.
Hyundai Hope on Wheels presented a $75,000 Young Investigators Clinical Award at a ceremony Tuesday. The money will support doctors' efforts in developing treatments for certain types of brain cancer.
"Many many doctors have wonderful ideas, and this money helps us further those ideas, further their mission, further their research so that we can find cures that will not only help kids here in San Diego, but potentially around the world," Carol Damon-Scherer of the Rady Children's Hospital Foundation said.
Young cancer patients also got to dip their hands in paint, then make their mark all over a car to commemorate their brave battles with the disease.
