Friday is the deadline to call for new Merriam project hearing

Friday is the deadline for the board of supervisors to decide whether to reconsider a 2700 home development in the North County.

The Merriam Mountains housing project proposal failed because of a tied vote in December. The tie vote happened because Supervisor Ron Roberts was absent.

Now, the developer has asked for a new hearing, because they claim supervisors were misled.

Meantime, people on both sides of the issue aren't backing down.

"The Stonegate Merriam Mountains project proposes 2,700 new homes in an area currently zoned for 345," said one resident.

"This project is going to provide a lot of great new housing for the area," countered another resident.

Any of the five supervisors can request a new hearing up until 5 p.m. Friday.
