Second body found in burned Calif. house

SANTEE, Calif. (AP) — Authorities say they have found a second body in the charred remains of a San Diego County home where a man called 911 saying he was going to kill himself and his wife and set the place ablaze.

Sheriff's Lt. Jim Duffy says the body found Sunday has not been identified but appears to be female.

Coroner's officials say a 60-year-old man was found dead Saturday. They have not released his name.

Firefighters and deputies found the house in flames Saturday after the man told neighbors he was having financial troubles and his wife had cancer, then made the 911 call.

The San Diego Union Tribune reports the home was owned by 60-year-old Michael Cour and 70-year-old Janice Gervais since 1999, and that a bank foreclosed on it Dec. 6.

SANTEE, Calif. (AP) — Authorities have resumed searching for a second body in the remains of a San Diego County home that burned after a man called 911 saying he was going to kill his wife and himself and torch his house.

Sheriff's officials said Sunday that the search started again at 8 a.m., after being called off late Saturday.

Deputies found one body at the destroyed home in Santee Saturday, but the person's identity was not immediately known.

Sheriff's Lt. Jim Duffy says the unidentified man placed the call Saturday afternoon, and responding crews found the house in flames.

The San Diego Union Tribune reports county records show the home was owned by 60-year-old Michael Cour and 70-year-old Janice Gervais since 1999, and that World Savings Bank foreclosed on the property Dec. 6. The couple filed for voluntary bankruptcy last summer.
