SAN DIEGO (CNS) - A body presumed to be that of an experienced swimmer who went missing during a sunset swim in Mission Bay was found floating in the harbor late Tuesday morning.
A recreational boater spotted the dead man off Ski Beach about 10:30 a.m., lifeguard Lt. Nick Lerma said.
Lifeguards picked up the body and brought it to their station on Quivira Court, where personnel from the Medical Examiner's Office took custody of the remains.
The dead man matched the description of a San Diego resident in his 30s who became separated from a friend during a swim in the bay about 6:30 p.m. Monday, according to Lerma. Positive identification was expected in short order, he said.
