"Weather scared me as a child...I didn't understand why planes experienced turbulence, or how it was possible to fly through clouds. This fear spawned my curiosity and drive for answers...that's why I'm a meteorologist today."

San Diego mornings are always off to a great start with AMS meteorologist Natasha Stenbock delivering your microclimate forecasts, weekdays at 4:30AM, 5AM, 6AM AND 11AM. Natasha is thrilled to return to the CBS News 8 AMS sealed meteorology team alongside Matt Baylow and Shawn Styles, where she previously handled microclimate forecasting from 2005 through 2009.

An instrument rated pilot, avid diver and member of the American Academy of Underwater Sciences, Natasha will also handle Earth 8 segments, specializing in environmental reporting and informing San Diegans about sustainability and environmental stewardship.

"I love learning about what's going on in the world around me. Some of the best education comes from conversations with our local scientists. I live vicariously through their research from polar ends of the earth to exotic islands".

Known for her versatility and warm, energetic delivery, Natasha graduated from Pepperdine University, Malibu, CA with a Bachelor of Arts in Broadcasting and received her AMS Seal of Approval from Mississippi State University. She previously worked as meteorologist and reporter at KOVR/KMAX-TV, Sacramento, CA. Stepping outside of weather and into the world of extreme sports, she spent a year and a half reporting, documenting, and web editing a record breaking space jump with some of the world's greatest aviators and aerospace engineers on the Red Bull Stratos Mission. Her early broadcasting years were spent as a weather anchor/reporter at KGET-TV, Bakersfield, CA and KRCR-TV in Redding, CA.

Natasha's love of the outdoors keeps her busy exploring San Diego County's ocean and sky. You may spot her buzzing around in a small airplane, scuba diving, skydiving, or taking in some fresh air hiking Torrey Pines.
