SAN DIEGO (CBS 8) - Police say they're using every resource available to find Mehria Mansury. Officers, search dogs, and even a helicopter spent the day scouring several areas near the missing woman's home.
"This investigation, we're still classifying this as a missing person. We're looking for Ms. Mansury, we need the community's help to locate her. We're dong a very thorough investigation, which means we're collecting evidence. We're also interviewing witnesses as to her whereabouts," SDPD Lt. Kevin Mayer said.
Mansury is considered missing and at-risk because she is 79 years old. She was last seen Tuesday morning at her home in Serra Mesa. On Friday, family members hung posters there and in several other neighborhoods.
"We are distraught, we are panicked, we are praying. We are hoping, we don't want to lose our hope. We are hoping she's alive," neice Zohra Enayat said.
Police won't say if they suspect foul play, but Mansury's nephew does. He says the woman's daughter Gazelle lived with her, and the two did not have a good relationship. He says she ran with the wrong crowd, was involved in drugs, and constantly let her boyfriend stay over. He added since Mansury went missing, her daughter hasn't been helpful.
"Her daughter is very… she doesn't communicate. It seems like she's hiding something, based on what she's telling. Her stories don't match up, she tells one person one thing then she switches it up. Things don't add up so we're extremely concerned about (Mahria Mansury's) well being," nephew Khaled Salihie said.
Court records show Mansury's daughter has a criminal past involving drugs and burglary dating back to 1996.
"If i had to speculate, it was them and they did it. I wouldn't say they viciously killed my aunt -- I think it was an accident," Salihie said.
Police won't comment on the daughter, but say they won't leave any stone unturned.
"We're going to do this until all of our leads are exhausted," Lt. Mayer said.
Mansury is described as a 5-foot-1-inch, roughly 140-pound Middle Eastern woman with brown hair and brown eyes.
