Couple carjacked, robbed at gunpoint

SAN DIEGO (CNS) - Police Sunday sought three suspects who crashed their car into another one on a University City freeway ramp and then stole the victims' car, cellphones, wallet and purse.

The crash happened at 9:50 p.m. Saturday on one of the Nobel Drive offramps from Interstate 805 in University City, and the stolen car was dumped later that night on 48th Street in Southeast San Diego.

San Diego police Sgt. Brad O'Donnell Sunday said a married couple was involved in the crash, and the driver pulled over to exchange information as required by law.

One of the three suspects pulled out a handgun and forced the victims out of their vehicle, O'Donnell said. Their possessions were then taken, and the thieves drove off in their car.

Police later found the vehicle abandoned in the 4200 block of 48th Street, he said.

Suspect one was described as a male Latino in his 20s wearing dark clothing with a bandana over his face. He was also armed with the handgun.

The second suspect was described as a Latino male in his 20s with a bandana.

The third suspect was described as a Latino male between the age of 25 and 30 with a medium build and short, black hair.

Police asked anyone with information regarding the robbery was asked to call the San Diego Police Department at (619) 531-2000.
