SAN DIEGO (CBS 8) - Comic Fest is in town this weekend, a far cry from Comic-Con and a lot more personal, fans say.
Comic Fest is attracting loyal fans for a third year in a row. The Town and Country Resort in Mission Valley has been transformed into a smaller scale hot spot for films, comics and culture.
Turns out, one of the original founders of Comic-Con put together this convention to get back to his roots.
"Comic-Con is like this huge spectacular event now, but we kinda miss also the way it used to be when it was really small and intimate and friendly," Comic Fest president Mike Towry said.
Comic Fest wraps up Sunday at 5 p.m.
