How much? Vintage toy expert doesn't play around

Is that box of old toys you've kept stashed in the attic for decades trash, or treasure? Now you can find out for sure.
SAN DIEGO (CBS 8) – Is that box of old toys you've kept stashed in the attic for decades trash, or treasure? Now you can find out for sure.

Just in time for the holidays, Joel Magee is coming to town, ho-ho-hoping you've got some cool old toys for sale. And San Diegans had some amazing treasures.

From Ms. Revlon in the '50s, to GI Joe in the '60s to Hot Wheels from the '70s, Magee calls himself "America's Toy Scout," and he travels the country buying up rare finds to sell to other collectors.

He's also made some finds so cool, he had to keep them for himself, like a "Lost in Space" Roto Jet gun he bought for $10,000.

"It was recalled very quickly because it shot projectiles out, and they deemed they were too fast and hard and they don't want kids to get hurt, so they recalled them," he said.

Joel also buys vintage items like old Coke signs and Disneyland tickets -- anything that reminds folks of their childhood. It's a great job for a guy who's a kid at heart.

"Even after doing this for 25 years, there's still tons of toys I've never seen before," he said.
