Reward for arrest of one of San Diego's most wanted fugitives

SAN DIEGO (CNS) - Federal authorities Thursday announced a reward of up to $20,000 for information leading to the arrest of a high-ranking member of the Mexico-based Sinaloa Cartel wanted for murder, kidnapping and drug trafficking.

Rene Arzate-Garcia, also known as "La Rana" (the Frog), was among 60 alleged members and associates of the notorious drug gang charged in federal indictments unsealed in San Diego in January.

One of the court documents accuses Arzate-Garcia of conspiring with others to import large quantities of marijuana from Mexico into the United States. He also is suspected of coordinating and enforcing some of the cartel's violent operations, including abductions and multiple slayings, according to the FBI.

Arzate-Garcia, who should be considered armed and dangerous, is a roughly 6-foot, 220-pound Latino with black hair and brown eyes, according to federal authorities. He is known to frequent Tijuana, La Paz and Los Cabos, Mexico.

Any with information about the case was asked to call the FBI at (858) 320-1800.
