SAN DIEGO (CBS 8) – Local relief efforts are underway to help treat the victims in the Nepal earthquake.

San Diego based International Relief Teams is sending medication to Nepal.

“They have asked us to supply them with essential medicines and including antibiotics, pain medications, bandages, dressings to help treat the wounded who need help,” said Barry La Forgia, International Relief Teams Executive Director.

They are partnering with a group in the Netherlands to send over emergency medical kits that will aid at least 10,000 victims over three months.

“Those are the people that need our help right now, the injured so that they survive number one and that's the biggest thing is to treat the injured,” said La Forgia.

The non-profit has been responding to natural disasters and providing aid to in the U.S. and in impoverished countries for nearly three decades.
