SeaWorld rescues trapped dolphin from San Diego Bay

Stuck in the mud and swimming in circles, a dolphin was rescued from the San Diego Bay Saturday, thanks to the help of SeaWorld.

SAN DIEGO (CBS 8) - Stuck in the mud and swimming in circles, a dolphin was rescued from the San Diego Bay Saturday, thanks to the help of SeaWorld.

The long-nosed common dolphin was first spotted in the southern part of the bay on Thursday around 1:00 p.m.

As water levels changed, witnesses told CBS News 8 they noticed the dolphin beginning to struggle. A group of Good Samaritans called SeaWorld.

"The tide was coming in, so without someone coming who knows what would have happened," said Alex Fitzpatrick.

The dolphin was taken to the park where it will be cared for by SeaWorld's animal rescue team.
