San Diego County residents have reached out to law enforcement in a show of support following the ambush shootings of 12 police officers in Dallas on Thursday, five of whom were killed.

SAN DIEGO (CNS) - San Diego County residents reached out to law enforcement in a show of support following the ambush shootings of 12 police officers in Dallas on Thursday, five of whom were killed.
   
"Thanks to Chula Vista community members for supporting CVPD,'' the Chula Vista Police Department said in a news release.


"Yesterday the CVPD received an overwhelming outpouring of support from the CV community members in light of the horrific attack on the police officers in Dallas, TX. We feel anguish and sadness for the loss of our family members in blue,'' the statement said.

   
Thanks to our beloved community members. Today we were showered with an outpouring of support in light of the horrific attack on the police officers in Dallas. Community members brought us pizza, dougnuts, flowers, notes of thanks and support. We provided a few ride alongs to local media to help tell our story. Special thanks to Domino's Pizza manager Andrea Welch for the pizza and brownies.
   

Oceanside police took to Twitter to express their thanks for community support.

 
Chad Larimore of Carlsbad and his family tweeted a photo with the message "Larimore Boys took thank you cards and sandwiches to the Carlsbad Police Station as a small gesture of support.'' That was followed by a thank-you tweet from the Carlsbad Police Department.


   
San Diego Police Chief Shelley Zimmerman tweeted her appreciation for an editorial in the San Diego Union-Tribune that was published in the Saturday edition, titled "Thank a police officer, any police officer.''
