SAN DIEGO (CNS) - A registered sex offender was behind bars Tuesday on suspicion of following a 10-year-old girl into a women's restroom at an El Cajon department store and using a cellphone to capture images of her while she was in a toilet stall.
Robert Louis Becker, 21, allegedly made lewd comments to the child while committing the crime at a Walmart in the 13400 block of Camino Canada last Wednesday, according to sheriff's officials.
Detectives identified Becker as the suspected perpetrator through surveillance video and arrested him at his Alpine home on Monday, Lt. Dan Brislin said.
Becker was booked into San Diego Central Jail on suspicion of attempted lewd and lascivious acts on a minor, annoying or molesting a child with a prior conviction and disorderly lewd conduct. He was being held on $210,000 bail pending arraignment, scheduled for Wednesday afternoon.
Investigators believe Becker may have committed similar crimes in the East County, authorities said. Officials urged any potential victims to contact the San Diego County Sheriff's Department at (858) 974-2417.
