Family calls for justice after hit-and-run death

San Diego police continue their search for three vehicles involved in a hit-and-run crash that left a 48-year-old pedestrian dead in Linda Vista.

SAN DIEGO (CBS 8) - San Diego police continue their search for three vehicles involved in a hit-and-run crash that left a 48-year-old pedestrian dead in Linda Vista.

The family of 48-year-old Wynona Mitchell on Wednesday night called for justice as they appeal to the public for answers.

According to police, Mitchell was attempting to dash across Linda Vista Road near Mesa College Drive outside a crosswalk when she was struck in the southbound lanes by a dark sedan around 10:30 p.m. Sunday.

The driver did not stop and continued south.

Moments later, the Mitchell was run over by a full-sized pickup truck with a camper shell, then by a red sedan. Police said neither or those vehicle's drivers stopped either.

Mitchell's oldest daughter said her mother was exceptionally giving. "It's something no one ever wants to think about. She would give the clothes off her back - angel on Earth," said La Toya Ann Jackson.

Police are asking the public to be on the lookout for an early 80's Toyota Camry with damage to the hood and windshield. Police believe the driver of the Camry is one of three drivers responsible for hitting Mitchell.

Anyone with information on this case is asked to call San Diego CrimeStoppers at 888-580-8477.

A GoFundMe page has been set up to help Mitchell's family with expenses.
