Veterans for Trump rally at Camp Pendleton

Roughly a dozen people showed up in front of the Camp Pendleton entrance Friday to support President-elect Donald Trump and veterans.

OCEANSIDE (CNS) - Roughly a dozen people showed up in front of the Camp Pendleton entrance Friday to support President-elect Donald Trump and veterans.

Jeff Schwilk  of the group Veterans for Trump said the rally was mainly to honor the millions of veterans who served their country and to bring awareness to various social challenges vets face, including high rates of homelessness and suicide.

Schwilk  also told CBS News 8 that the military is a high priority for Trump, who he hopes will take the focus off helping undocumented people living in the United States and assist veterans instead.

During the rally, participants were seen holding flags and pro-Trump signs.

Numerous protests, some of them violent, have been held across the nation against Trump since his election on Tuesday.

According to the Oceanside Police Department Watch Commander's Office, there were no reported incidents at the pro-Trump rally in front of Camp Pendleton.
