RAMONA (CNS/CBS 8) - The U.S. Forest Service is expected Saturday to close Cedar Creek Falls in the Cleveland National Forest, where a 16-year-old El Cajon boy fell to his death Wednesday.

Joseph Meram, 16, was with his family when he fell off an 80-foot cliff above the swimming hole about noon.

The closing will take effect at midnight and extend until Nov. 8, or until Forest Service officials come up with a new safety management plan.

The falls are accessible from Julian or a trailhead on a residential road in the San Diego Country Estates, where neighbor have complained about cars parked along Thornbush Road on weekends.

Forest service officials will meet next week to discuss making the area safer.

In the meantime, anyone found violating the Cedar Creek Falls closure could be jailed and fined as much as $5,000.
