Spyder the dog recovering from injuries after Ocean Beach fire

SAN DIEGO (CBS 8) - A dog that was injured in a house fire in Ocean Beach should be able to go home in the next few days.

Spyder is being treated for smoke inhalation and burns at VCA Emergency Animal Hospital in Mission Valley.

She was rescued by firefighters early Thursday morning at a home in the 2300 block of Seaside Street. Since she arrived at the animal hospital, vets have been treating her with fluids, antibiotics and pain medication.

"She's super sweet, she's really docile, she pretty much has just slept most of the time she's been here and she's been a good patient," Dr. Amy Nadolski said.

The cost of Spyder's care is being covered by the Spirit Fund, a San Diego County Animal Control program that helps care for animals with special medical needs.
