SAN DIEGO (CBS 8) - The FBI is asking for the public's help in identifying a bank robber who has struck three times in less than a month.
In each case, he targeted a Wells Fargo bank and got away with an undisclosed amount of cash. Some believe the robber resembles the popular South Korean rapper PSY.
"The suspect is described as a Middle Eastern or Asian male, approximately 5 feet 10 to 6 feet tall," FBI Special Agent Darrell Foxworth said.
The first robbery happened on Tuesday, December 18 at the Wells Fargo on Highland Village Place in Torrey Highlands, just off SR-56. The second one took place the day after Christmas on Scripps Ranch Boulevard, just east of Interstate 15. The third bank was targeted last Friday, just two exits south on Interstate 15 at a branch on Scripps Summit Drive.
The bandit presented a demand note in each case, though the FBI won't reveal the contents.
"A lot of bank robberies are committed by individuals using demand notes, but oftentimes in those demand notes there is a threat of violence," Foxworth said.
The FBI is now asking for the public's help to identify the bank robber, who some say resembles the "Gangnam Style" rapper.
"This individual is not working by himself, he's working with someone. So we know there's got to be someone out there with information concerning these robberies right now," Foxworth said.
The robber did not show a weapon in any of the three cases. The FBI says if you think you know who he is, to please contact them. Or, if you think you see him, get a good vehicle description including the make and model, license plate, and note any possible dents or characteristics that would make the vehicle stand out.
