SAN DIEGO (CBS 8) - A veteran sheriff's deputy helicopter pilot has been grounded after he was nabbed in a San Diego Police Department prostitution sting.

Deputy Stuart Rea, 48, faces one misdemeanor count of soliciting prostitution following his arrest during an undercover sting conducted by San Diego police at a hotel, it was reported.

Deputy Stuart Rea, a helicopter pilot for the sheriff's department, was arrested Jan. 23 and has since been charged in a complaint filed by the City Attorney's Office, his attorney James M.V. Fitzpatrick told U-T San Diego late Wednesday.

A court date has been scheduled for later this month.

Rea who flies out of ASTREA's El Cajon base, is now on paid desk duty.
