King Tut exhibit tickets go on sale

SAN DIEGO (CNS) - The San Diego Natural History Museum Tuesday announced that tickets are now on sale for "The Discovery of King Tut."

The exhibit opens Oct. 11 and is being touted as one of the top events heralding the 2015 celebration of the centennial of Balboa Park, where the museum is located.

The exhibit, which museum officials say "theatrically" tells the story of Howard Carter's discovery of King Tutankhamun's tomb in 1922, will run through April 26. It is now in Kansas City, its first U.S. stop.

"We are thrilled to bring this exhibition to San Diego for locals and visitors to enjoy," said Michael Hager, president and CEO of the museum. "Fresh off its European tour, `The Discovery of King Tut' is a unique and incredibly visually stimulating presentation of King Tut's tomb as it was discovered in the 1920s. I'm confident each visitor to the exhibition will walk away amazed at what they've seen and learned about the iconic boy king."

Tickets to the general public, available online at www.sdnat.org/kingtut, will cost $27, or $24 for seniors 62 years and older, and $21 for students and military with identification. For youth, tickets for ages 7-17 are $17, for ages 3-6 $11 and free for those 2 and under.

For museum members, the tickets are $15 for adults, $13 for seniors, $11 for students and military, $10 for youth 7-17 and $8 for children 3-6.
