SAN DIEGO (CNS) - A person was found dead Wednesday from multiple gunshot wounds in an unincorporated area just north of the U.S.-Mexico border.

The body was found by a U.S. Border Patrol agent around 6 a.m. about four miles from Enrico Fermi Drive and Via de la Amistad, just east of Otay Mesa, sheriff's Lt. John Maryon said.

Mayron said the person, who has not been identified, was shot multiple times in the upper body.

The body was turned over to the medical examiner who will perform an autopsy.


Investigators are asking any witnesses with information to contact the San Diego Sheriff's Department.
