SAN DIEGO (NEWS 8) - Senator Dianne Feinstein on Tuesday paid a visit to Rady Children's Hospital in San Diego to discuss Proposition 4 - the Children's Hospital Bonds Initiative.
The California representative voiced her support for the proposition, which, if voters approve on election day, will authorize $1.5 billion in bonds for the construction, expansion, renovation, and equipping of children's hospitals in California, including Rady Children's Hospital.
Speaking at the hospital, Senator Feinstein urged Californians to vote yes on the ballot measure. Critics worry about the cost to tax payers, while supporters say it's worth every penny.
"One thing people want their tax dollars spent on is life and health. Not wasted, but spent wisely," says Senator Feinstein. She adds, "And as science learns, we have better chances of keeping people healthy and alive, and that starts at birth."
Senator Feinstein estimates that under the bond measure, Rady Children's would be eligible for $135 million in funding.
