SAN DIEGO (CBS 8) - It was announced Tuesday that a woman accused in a Pacific Beach SWAT standoff will be extradited to Missouri to face charges.

Sanders claims to be the wife of Timothy Smith, 47, who was shot after a confrontation with police in Pacific Beach on Wednesday, November 4.

Sanders, 32, was arrested later that same night after barricading herself in a Pacific Beach apartment in the 3900 block of Ingraham Street.

CBS News 8 spoke with Sanders, who says she wants the public to know about the real Timothy Smith.

"He was such a good guy. He loved his family and he wasn't dangerous whatsoever," said Sanders.

Police say Timothy Smith was a fugitive wanted for felonies in Missouri and was considered armed and dangerous. Authorities reported that an officer spotted Smith walking down a street and chased him into an alley, where he managed to break free from a police dog. Police said he was shot after reaching into a pocket and died at the scene.

"He was my anchor. My rock. My whole world has been turned upside down," said Sanders. "We made some mistakes and just because we made mistakes doesn’t mean he was a bad person."

However, Timothy had been in jail for ten years previously for fraud and was facing a life sentence if arrested again. Timothy told Sanders that he had no intentions of ever going back to jail.

When asked if she thought that Timothy had purposely reached for something because he wanted police to fatally shoot him, Sanders said that she doesn’t think that was the case.

"I don’t understand why this happened. I just miss him so much," said Sanders.

Sanders is being held on $40,000 bail.
