It's graduation day for this school of fish

Students at La Jolla High School are doing their part to help the environment.

SAN DIEGO (CBS 8) - Students at La Jolla High School are doing their part to help the environment.

They have been raising white sea bass in their classroom since last fall, and on Thursday they released them into Mission Bay.

This classroom project is all part of a much larger program run by the Hubbs SeaWorld Research Institute, helping to raise and then release white sea bass, whose numbers had been dramatically shrinking. The work of these La Jolla High students is helping to reverse that trend.

In this Your Stories video report, Richard Allyn has a behind-the-scenes look at the program.
