Coastal Clean Up Day 2018: Restoring San Diego's coastal and inland communities

San Diegans turned out in force Saturday across the county for the 34th annual Coastal Clean Up Day.

SAN DIEGO (NEWS 8) – I Love A Clean San Diego's 34th Annual Coastal Cleanup Day was a success with more than 7,000 volunteers picked up 130,000 pounds of trash and recycling at more than 106 sites across San Diego County.

Among the debris picked up Saturday, September 15, there were several notable items collected during the cleanup including: a disco ball, a stuffed animal tiger, 641 golf balls at one location, a snowboard, and fake eyelashes.

I Love A Clean San Diego organizes Coastal Cleanup Day in San Diego County in partnership with the California Coastal Commission as part of a global international event led by the Ocean Conservancy. 

Top tier supporters of Coastal Cleanup Day include KFMB-TV the County of San Diego, Think Blue San Diego, The Coca-Cola Foundation, San Diego Gas & Electric (SDG&E) and Evans Hotels/The Bahia.
