SAN DIEGO — A man was arrested Tuesday morning after leading officers on a short pursuit that ended when he crashed through a fence and attempted to flee on foot in the Oak Park area, police said.

Officers attempted to pull the man over shortly before 3:40 a.m. on Euclid Avenue near Federal Boulevard on suspicion of driving a stolen Toyota Tundra pickup, but the man took off northbound, according to San Diego police.

At some point, the man drove the wrong way on Euclid Avenue before continuing onto Chollas Road.

The driver crashed through a fence in the 5100 block of Palm Street around five minutes later and attempted to flee on foot, but officers tracked him down and took him into custody, Officer Tony Martinez said.

The man, whose age was not immediately available, was taken to a hospital for treatment of minor leg and head injuries, Martinez said. He was expected to be booked into jail once medically cleared.

A passenger in the Toyota was uninjured in the crash.
