Here's how to protect yourself online before you even login

You've heard of having good hygiene, like brushing your teeth, but how is your cyber hygiene?

SAN DIEGO — Are you keeping your information safe online?

Co-director of the SDSU Graduate Program in Homeland Security, Lance Larson, sat down with Morning Extra to give some easy tips on how to protect yourself online.

He has some key takeaways:

- avoid scams by using common sense

- choose complex passwords and use a different password for different accounts when possible

- go for the multi-step identification option, like having a code sent to your smartphone

Larson also recommends pursuing a high-demand career in cybersecurity, especially here in the San Diego area.
