San Diego County residents near 'hoarder house' say they've fought for years to get it cleaned

A confrontation unfolded Monday morning in front of CBS 8 cameras.

SAN DIEGO — Neighbors in Ocean View Hills said they've been fighting for years to get a "hoarder house" cleaned up, calling the property an eyesore and a danger to the community.

Boxes of trash and furniture can be seen outside the home on Mariner Drive.

"The property is a dump. As of right now, when she comes home, she has such a hoard that you can hear her fighting her way to get her front door," said next door neighbor Eddie Mead.

A confrontation between Mead and the woman unfolded in front of CBS 8 cameras Monday morning. The woman called the police.

Mead said there is rotting food that attracts rats. He said he can hear them on his roof.

He said he and his neighbors have been living in fear of the woman who lives at the house for years.  Mead and three other neighbors told CBS 8 she has been harassing them for years.

In 2021, Mead said the City of San Diego went in to clean the property, but the woman ended up back at the house, and the junk returned.

CBS 8 obtained e-mails from neighbors showing they have been in contact with the city as well as Council Member Vivian Moreno's office about this issue.

Moreno's office told CBS 8 it notified neighbors in June 2023 that a Notice of Default was filed on the property. A spokesperson said the San Diego City Attorney's Office is handling this case.

CBS 8 reached out to the city attorney's office for comment. Late Monday afternoon, a spokesperson said the property was placed in a receivership a couple of years ago, meaning an outside entity took over responsibility of cleaning the house. CBS 8 reached out to that outside entity for comment. We are waiting to hear back.

A court hearing on the matter is scheduled for March 29. CBS 8 will continue to follow the latest developments.

Meanwhile, the woman who lives at the house, Lisa Golden, claimed the city damaged her home when it went in and cleaned it in 2021. She sent CBS 8 photos from the inside of her home after she returned. She blames the city for the reason her home is in such disarray.
