Missing Poway woman found safe, San Diego County Sheriff's Department says

The Poway Sheriff's Station was notified Sunday night that Sonia Vargas was found after she was seen walking away from her home Friday afternoon.

A missing woman from Poway has been found safe and will soon be reunited with her family, the San Diego County Sheriff's Department announced in a Monday morning release. 

The Poway Sheriff's Station was notified around 7:30 p.m. Sunday that Sonia Vargas, 56, was found.

San Diego Sheriff's deputies in Poway are asking the public for assistance locating a missing woman after she was last seen walking away from her home on the 13500 block of Robley Ranch Road on Friday, January 26.

Sonia Vargas, 56, is described as a light-skinned Hispanic woman about 5' 3" tall and weighing about 170 pounds.  She has green eyes and short, sandy blonde hair. 

She was last seen wearing a long-sleeved white shirt, gray pants, white shoes, glasses, and possibly a green jacket or sweater. 

The Sheriff's Department said that she does have a physical disability and difficulty communicating. They said she is known to frequent the AMC movie theater as well as the nearby Wal-Mart and Stater Bros. stores.
