Three teens arrested in connection to convenience store robberies across San Diego

Two 16-year-olds and a 14-year-old are in custody after a series of armed robberies across San Diego.

SAN DIEGO — San Diego Police said they have arrested three teens after a series of armed robberies across San Diego at local convenience stores.

SDPD said they made a traffic stop on December 15 in connection to an ongoing investigation, and they arrested two 16-year-old males and a 14-year-old male. These suspects were arrested in connection to at least six cases in the City of San Diego.

Police said that one of the suspects arrested was also wanted in connection to a series of delivery driver robberies.

Officers said they recovered three firearms during the traffic stop, including an AR-15 semiautomatic rifle. Police said that at least one of the recovered firearms was a ghost gun.

All three suspects have been booked into Juvenile Hall and their identities are being withheld due to their ages.

Police said that these incidents occurred at convenience stores, typically later in the evening hours. The suspects have been described as young males wearing hoodies and masks.

SDPD said the suspects entered the businesses in groups of one to four, brandishing firearms at the clerk and demanding money as well as items from the store.

In some incidents, police said the suspects took entire cash drawers and registers. While there have been no injuries reported so far during the robberies, there is a high potential for violence given the type of crimes.
