Two-alarm fire at Vista apartment complex leaves one dead

Vista Fire officials say between 6-10 people have been displaced, and the San Diego Sheriff's Department will lead the investigation.

VISTA, Calif. — At least one person is dead after a two-alarm Vista fire Friday night, San Diego Sheriff's Department confirms. 

Vista Fire Department responded to a two-alarm apartment complex fire at 117 W Palmyra Drive around 8 p.m. Friday evening, per Vista Fire officials. 

The fire started on the first floor and consumed the bottom story of the building before spreading to the second story and destroying that as well. 

Vista Fire officials say between 6-10 people were displaced, but the fire has been contained. 

The San Diego Sheriff's Department is the lead agency investigating the scene.
