Here's which Walmart stores are closing in San Diego County

Walmart said there was no single cause for the two store closures but the decision was based on multiple factors including financial performance.

SAN DIEGO — Two Walmart stores in San Diego and El Cajon will shut their doors next month.

The Walmart locations at 2121 Imperial Ave. in the Logan Heights neighborhood of San Diego and at 605 Fletcher Parkway in El Cajon will both close on Feb. 9, the company announced in a statement on Wednesday.

This decision was not made lightly and was reached only after a careful and thoughtful review process,” the company said in a statement. “While our underlying business is strong, these stores haven’t performed as well as we hoped, and we were unable to reach mutual lease renewals with the property managers.”

Walmart said there was no single cause for the two store closures but the decision was based on multiple factors including financial performance.

All employees working at the San Diego and El Cajon Walmart locations will be eligible to transfer their employment to a nearby store.

“We are grateful to the customers who have given us the privilege of serving them at our San Diego and El Cajon stores,” said Walmart Global Communications Director Brian K. Little. "We look forward to continuing to serve them at any of our many locations across the area, on walmart.com and through delivery to their home or business.”
