TIERRASANTA (CBS 8) - San Diego Police have arrested the grandniece of a woman who was found shot to death inside her Tierrasanta home Wednesday.
On December 14, officers responded to a report that 74-year-old Daisy Mae Hayes had been shot to death inside her home on Gabacho Drive. Family members had gone to the house to check on the woman after not being able to reach her by phone.
Detectives working on the case identified Hayes' 23-year-old grandneice, Tiffany Burney, as the suspect in the murder. Detectives arrested Burney Saturday around 8:30 a.m. on Parkway Drive in La Mesa.
Burney was booked into the Las Colinas Women's Detention Facility for one count of murder. The investigation is continuing. The motive of the crime has not been released at this time.
