SAN DIEGO — A woman is dead after bags of cement fell through the windshield of their car from an overturned truck above on a freeway ramp.
According to the California Highway Patrol, a truck carrying bags of debris and concrete was traveling on the I-805 south Friday when the driver lost control. The truck overturned, sending several bags of concrete through the windshield of a car on eastbound SR-52.
The bags of concrete and debris crashed directly through the windshield, impacting the passenger. According to CHP, the victim described as a woman in her 70's died at the scene.
The fatal wreck occurred shortly before 1 p.m. on the southbound side of the freeway, near state Route 52, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The accident forced a closure of the southbound I-805 connector to eastbound SR-52, Caltrans advised.
Drugs and alcohol don't appear to be a factor in this incident, CHP said.
