SAN DIEGO — Earth Month takes place every April. It’s a time to celebrate the planet and take action to protect it. It’s also the perfect time to raise awareness about the environment and consider new sustainable solutions.

Film, TV and Broadway actor Taye Diggs joins our Laura Cavanaugh to talk about easy ways to reduce plastic pollution and help save our planet.

“I realized that it wasn’t as difficult as I thought to make a difference,” said Diggs.

On laundry day, instead of using large plastic jugs of detergent, Diggs uses Tru Earth Eco-Strips laundry detergent.  One strip cleans an entire load of laundry.  It cleans clothes, saves storage space and helps reduce plastic pollution.

Diggs says other eco-friendly household hacks include composting and using reusable towels.

The actor, who played Coach Billy Baker on the CW’s All American for five seasons, also discussed a possible return to the popular show.

“That was one of the shows that changed my life,” said Diggs. “It holds a special place in my heart.”

Diggs has also been enjoying life as an author of children’s books.  His son, Walker, inspired him to write multiple books on identity.

“I love writing children’s books. I love reading them to my kids. And I love, when we go on tour, seeing how they effect other young people,” said Diggs.

The actor is also enjoying his partnership with Tru Earth, stripping down what people think they knew about laundry to help them switch to a more sustainable solution with Tru Earth Eco-Strips laundry detergent.

We can all play a part in supporting the planet and being part of the solution.
