Then & Now 10th Chargers-Adopt 8 Calendar: Philip Rivers

The Chargers are all business on the field, but over the summer, Philip Rivers and his teammates took time out to help foster children find a forever home.

SAN DIEGO (CBS 8) - The Chargers are all business on the field, but over the summer, Philip Rivers and his teammates took time out to help foster children find a forever home.

The players, alongside Adopt 8 kids, will be featured in the 2017 Join the Team Calendar, which is marking a big milestone next year.

In an exclusive behind-the-scenes look at the summer photo shoot, Rivers reflected on the calendar's success.

It's been three years since chargers quarterback Philip Rivers first met these three siblings, and a lot has changed for Jocelyn, Miguel and Gabriel.

They are now part of a forever family, with proud parents to support them from the sidelines in life.

“It's really, really awesome and obviously that's why to me, I'll always, as long as I can, help with this calendar, because the success, right?” said Rivers.

The upcoming 2017 calendar marks the 10th edition of the Join the Team Calendar, featuring Chargers players and Adopt 8 kids and to celebrate the many success stories through the past decade, the new calendar will highlight Rivers reuniting with some of the children who have since found loving homes.

Rivers and four sisters graced the cover of the 2010 calendar, which led these girls straight to their forever family.

The calendar has made a life-changing difference for countless foster kids by raising awareness about the need for adoptive homes.

Rivers is the only player who has been in all nine past calendars, posing, each year, with children who are waiting to find a forever home. A father of eight himself, Rivers says, being able to reconnect with some of them now, knowing they have found good homes, is truly rewarding.

“And seeing them all grown up, it's crazy how the time goes. I had to see the calendar to really recognize them, they've all grown up so much,” Rivers said.

Rivers will be on the cover again of the 10th edition of the calendar and the families whose lives he's touched want him to know the relatively small amount of time he dedicates to the cause is making a huge impact.

The 2017 Join the Team calendar will be revealed and handed out at the Chargers-Dolphins game November 13, with more distribution locations to be announced.
