San Diego will see scattered showers through Friday, snow in mountains as winter storm moves out

A continued dip in the jet stream from other areas of low pressure will lead to more activity through Friday before a mostly dry and mild weekend.

SAN DIEGO — Scattered rain and mountain snow showers will continue in the forecast through Friday evening —but mostly lighter than what we've seen the last few days.

It will mostly be in an intermittent, on/off fashion. This will still lead to additional accumulations of rain in some areas that have already picked up several inches of rain in the last few days as a strong atmospheric river and areas of low pressure teamed up to hit San Diego earlier this week.

The atmospheric river cleared out to the southeast of Southern California on Tuesday night. A continued dip in the jet stream from other areas of low pressure has led to more activity on Thursday and will continue through Friday before a mostly dry and mild weekend.

Looking ahead

A big deep in the jet stream tapped into the atmospheric river that steered the moderate to heavy rain in our direction Monday night through Tuesday. That conveyor belt of moisture is out, but rain chances will remain elevated as a couple more low pressure systems closes in.

We could see an isolated shower or two in the mountains on Saturday morning as another low exits the region. Behind it, high pressure will build in for the rest of the weekend. Expect a drying trend with sunshine and a gradual warm up through the first half of next week.
