CHULA VISTA, Calif. — You might be familiar with Tuetano Taqueria's previous locations in San Ysidro and Old Town, but as of Sunday they are officially open on Third Avenue in Chula Vista! This comes after more than a year of delays.
The taqueria brings a combination of home, culture and food. Co-owner and well-known chef Priscilla Curiel said she wants it to feel like you're eating at your house. She's ready to share her home-style tacos with the community.
"I'm Mexican and very proud of my roots, of my culture, of my cuisine," Curiel said.

- Address: 216 Third Avenue, Chula Vista CA 91910
- Hours: 8 a.m. through 5 p.m.
Curiel also owns Mujer Divina, the popular coffee and burrito place next door. Although she has a number of successes under her belt, she said it comes down to one thing.
"Culture begins with food in a table with people, and that's what it's all about," she said.
Curiel said her inspiration and passion is the food. Classic Mexican food from tacos, quesadillas and fresh drinks are all under $15.
"I love cooking from scratch, all the food is made from scratch, fresh ingredients, handmade tortillas, made to order," Curiel said.
The most popular item at the taqueria is her birria and bone marrow tacos.
"I'm known for birria, it's my specialty," Curiel said. "That's like the first thing I ever sold in my life, and so birria has always taken me back and in demand, because people know us for making good birria."
When she first started selling birria tacos back in 2015, she realized not many people knew what it was. She wanted to share her culture and introduce people to different types of tacos.
"Different type of tacos at taco shops, which are really good, but they're way different than home cooking and so that was something that inspired me and made me like, this is what I'm gonna do," Curiel said.
